Hi there! We take your privacy seriously—especially when it comes to content made for families. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it. We've tried to keep the legal stuff readable, but if anything's unclear, just ask us at hello@skelliesandgigglecats.com.
Who We Are
Skellies & Gigglecats is a creative project based in Poland, European Union. We create children's books, digital content, and educational materials for families with kids ages 6-10.

What We Collect
Information You Give Us
- Email address: When you sign up for our newsletter or request a free chapter, we collect your email address. That's it—no names required, no account creation needed.
- Purchase information: If you buy something, our payment processor (not us) handles your payment details. We receive only what's needed to fulfill your order: email, order details, and delivery address for physical products.
- Messages: If you email us with feedback or questions, we keep that correspondence to help you.
Information Collected Automatically
- Cookieless analytics: We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool, to understand how people use our website. Umami collects anonymized data like page views and general geographic region—no cookies, no personal identifiers, no tracking across sites, no IP address storage.
- Technical data: Basic server logs (IP address, browser type) are temporarily stored by our hosting provider (Netlify) to keep the site running and secure. These are automatically deleted after a short period.
What We Don't Collect
- We don't collect information directly from children
- We don't use tracking cookies or third-party advertising
- We don't sell, rent, or trade your information—ever
How We Use Your Information
We use your email address to:
- Send you the free chapter you requested
- Share updates about new books and content (you can unsubscribe anytime)
- Respond to your questions and feedback
- Process and fulfill any purchases
We don't use your data for anything else. No profiling, no automated decision-making, no surprises.
Children's Privacy (This Is Important)
Our website and email communications are designed for parents and educators, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16 years of age.
If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at hello@skellycats.com and we will delete it promptly.
For our US visitors: We comply with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) by not collecting data from children under 13.
Your Rights (GDPR)
As an EU-based business, we follow GDPR. You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Ask us to fix any inaccurate information
- Deletion: Request we delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Portability: Receive your data in a common format to transfer elsewhere
- Withdraw consent: Unsubscribe from emails at any time via the link in every email
- Object: Object to how we process your data
- Complain: Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@skellycats.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
Cookies & Tracking
We keep it simple:
- No cookies: We don't use cookies at all. We use minimal browser storage (sessionStorage) only for essential functions like preventing popup spam. This data is temporary and deleted when you close your browser tab.
- Cookieless analytics: We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool that doesn't use cookies, doesn't track you across websites, and doesn't collect any personally identifiable information.
- No advertising or marketing trackers: We don't run ads, use marketing pixels, or employ any third-party tracking technologies.
Bottom line: No cookie banner needed. We're GDPR-compliant by design.
Data Storage & Security
- Email addresses are stored securely with our email service provider
- We use HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
- We retain your data only as long as needed (or until you ask us to delete it)
- Payment processing is handled by PCI-compliant third parties—we never see your card details
Third-Party Services
We use a small number of trusted services:
- Netlify: Website hosting (US-based, GDPR-compliant)
- Umami: Privacy-focused analytics (EU-hosted)
- Email provider: Newsletter delivery (GDPR-compliant)
- Payment processor: Order processing (for purchases)
We choose services that respect privacy and comply with GDPR requirements.
International Transfers
Some of our service providers are based outside the EU. When this happens, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent) to protect your data.
Changes to This Policy
If we make significant changes, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date. For major changes affecting your rights, we'll notify subscribers via email.
